I have an addiction to buying new lip balms, especially if they are unusual in some way, like a new texture or scent. My forever go to lip balm is Sisley, although it is expensive, it’s lasted ages and it really does repair my lips in one overnight thick application.
But that doesn’t mean I won’t find other purse friendly alternatives!
Rohto Mentholatum are a health care company that produce a number of products but is probably most well known for it’s heat rubs and lip care. I purchased this ‘Lip Fondue’ product, thinking from the picture it was a clear liquid type moisturiser but it’s actually a transparent solid balm.
This lip fondue (I like that name!) does 3 things (says the packaging):
1. Lip Mask – to be used overnight to nourish the lips
2. Lip Essence – Contains Royal Jelly Extract, honey and olive oil to replenish lips
3. Lip Balm – Semi-Solid formulation to moisturise lips
Realistically, if you ask me, all of the above ‘products’ come under Lip Balm anyway!
This comes in 2 shades, a Lavender shade and Honey Rose which is this pinky shade.
So, it wasn’t a liquid balm as I had thought, but a solid transparent balm which is quite interesting to look at at least (it looks likes there’s nothing in there).
Once you actually apply the balm which has an unusual and rather lovely texture – it’s soft, but not too squiggly, it doesn’t feel like cream, balm or an oil based balm, it’s somewhere between all three?! It’s hard to describe but I’ll say that I like lip balms that feel like they have really covered the lips and are providing significant hydration.
The slip with this balm also gives the lips a nice sheen.
You can see after application, the top has some pink to it, which is the shade it goes on the lips (quite a natural pretty pink).
NOTE: THIS LIPBALM CANNOT BE ROTATED BACK.
I am really quite pleased with this lip balm, it is quite hydrating and also adds a nice natural tint to the lips (although it is quite sheer). I really like the unusual texture which leaves a sheen on the lips and feels very comfortable on dry lips.
I purchased this from eBay for around £5.
