My favourite eye looks to do is a mix of neutral and brights; you see, in my heart of hearts, I just can’t resist a green or turquoise eye, but it’s not always suitable for every day wear so…I love to mix it with neutral colours such as brown tones.
So…I wasn’t on the market for another eyeshadow palette at all and then I spotted this beauty from Make Up Forever called Blue Sepia. I couldn’t resist – that turquoise got me…
I haven’t had anything from MUFE I felt was a fail to be honest although I’ve liked some things more than others. This palette is a little gem…
First off the box. Each colour has a name and I believe you can buy some of these as full sizes. This palette has been put together as eye colours but also as brow colours – indeed the taupey browns (right hand side of the palette) are made for brows (but can be used on the eyes!).
The palette looks exactly like the box! I love it, perfect – sturdy, slim so can be carried around, with a big mirror and useful brushes.
This palette is a mixture of brown tones and of course a useful white, black and that beautiful rich turquoise blue.
My first thoughts when I saw this palette was – is it too samey? Are those warm browns too warm? The answer is…no actually. The warm browns work well on my warm skin tone, and the cool browns I really like too but do work well for browns and contouring. I always have time for a matte black and that turquoise brings it all to life. The textures are great!
The colours are:
128 – Copper Brown. Actually quite a light faint beige coppery peachy shade. A lid colour for me.
28 – Coffee. A warm brown – actually quite nice on, not too orange.
152 – Rose Clair – a pale whitish pink highlight pearl
Petrol Blue – beautiful rich true turquoise
4 – Noir. A matte rich black
98 – Marron. More pigmented than it looks in the pan, a mid toned brown that is a good shader.
17 – Espresso. Deep cool brown.
127 – Taupe Metallic. Mushroom colour – quite pretty on.
I have been mixing the colours – there’s not a whole lot in it what I use on lid and to contour to be fair, just whether you fancy a warmer or cooler eye.
There are 3 brushes with this palette all quite useful; 270p is good for lining and brows. 214P is a rounded brush good for lining, and 226P is a fluffy brush, good for lid and crease. An extra brush (wider fluffed blending brush) wouldn’t been a nice addition.
Anyway – for me the turquoise makes this palette (wouldn’t it be nice to have another blue in this…a deeper one perhaps) but anyway – the way I wear this pretty much all the time is brown on the lid and the blue underneath to add contrast. I do this a lot to add a pop of colour whether it is turquoise, purple or green depends on how I am feeing!
I also used some shadow on my brows:
I used the black to line too. All in all I really like this palette! I do have these colours already but in various different palettes.
This palette is £33.50 which is pretty good value for that many colours and I like having everything in one place.
I bought mine from PAM and shipping only took 2 days.
Recommended for people who love browns, warm and cool, and want to try some MUFE!
