Many ladies in the know tell me their all time favourite Japanese mascara comes from Majolica Majorca – their mascara’s are extremely long lasting and are usually very dark and lengthening. I personally found that their mascara’s didn’t hold curl until I tried their last release, Lash King (I thought I reviewed this but I can’t find the review so I concur that I am seriously going mad…).
I quite enjoyed that mascara however the fibers were too irritating for my eyes.
I ended up buying their newest mascara release, Lash Expander Edge Meister (I know, the name!) and Lash Jelly Drop Treatment Gel to try.
The Lash Jelly Drop was sold to me as a primer, which is isn’t! It is a nightly treatment for conditioning the lashes and encouraging growth.
The package is pretty standard MJ with the black lid and little coin like emblem on the lid. It feels nice. The Lash Jelly Drop is in a smaller white tube.
Neither of these are that cheap at around £10 each.
The Lash Edge Meister mascara has two brushes, use the wider side on the top lashes and the shorter one on your bottom and corner lashes. It works quite well although the comb is quite fine toothed on my short fine lashes. Longer lashes may find it tedious wiggling the comb through over and over to build up length.
The formula is rich, thick and glossy. It is full of fibers are many MJ mascara’s are. This one is MUCH better than Lash King in terms of fiber control as the previous formula became quite painful to use as they’d fall into my eye throughout the day. This one has very little irritation and is also slightly easier to remove.
This mascara is excellent for length – those fibers make a different but sucks at the volume part.
Lash Jelly Drop is a treatment gel with an interesting applicator that doesn’t really feel any better than an average brush, but hey, it’s interesting enough. I guess with this applicator there’s no guessing if you got the transparent gel on your lashes – it leaves quite a lot of the gel-liquid on the lashes whereas sometimes with a black brush (say in a Talika lash conditioner) it can take a while to see if you have sufficient product on.
It’s crap as a primer – it weighs the lashes down so not recommended.
I think the mascara is pretty good – I have been using it a lot and I do like it:
It works well for short lashes like mine and it will hold curl. Remember MJ mascara is always hard to remove. I wish it had more volume for OOMPH though.
Took this pic on my phone as I was impressed by how long my lashes were looking:
Good for straight Asian lashes that won’t hold curl. Don’t really see the point of using a mascara that is so hard to remove if you don’t have length/curl issues to be honest.
The treatment gel is ok, my lashes look glossy but they aren’t more plentiful to be honest so I wouldn’t recommend.
