Did you know that No. 17 was rebranded as Seventeen recently? The whole range has had a make over, I’d say making it more grown up and elegant looking than before, although, I am so used to how No. 17 looks in it’s deep royal blue that it will be hard getting used to the new packaging!
I was sent some colours from their new Lip Lustre Lip gloss range. There are 10 shades in the collection, all super wearable.
The colours are called; Wild One, Talk that Talk, Stop and Stare, Hotting Up, The Lucky One, 3 Little Words, Kiss the Stars, Polished, Ice Maiden and Queen of Diamonds.
I have 2 – Ice Maiden and 3 Little Words
Packaging wise – the shape reminds me my beloved Chanel Aqualumieres (although these are, as you can imagine are lighter and not as luxurious).
What do I think of the rebranding? Hmmmm. If I am honest I think No. 17 had more personality – these are older looking and I guess more generic so could work across different ages groups (whereas I always though of No. 17 as quite a youthful brand). There’s nothing sexy about this packaging though, it’s just very inoffensive.
The applicator is a doe foot one – a bit hard (I like softer, fluffier brushes ideally) but they’re ok:
Both of my colours are very wearable natural colours. Would I pick these out? No, because I have hundreds of glosses so for me to fork out I have to be inspired by them but I can imagine a huge amount of women who tend to err on the side of caution when it comes to cosmetics loving these.
Ice Maiden is a pale frosty pink which is quite nice, but lighter on the lips than when swatched. I can imagine this will look nice on ladies paler than me:
The texture of these glosses are medium – not thick, not thin, but somehow…lacking. I don’t know if it’s because the colours themselves need more dimension, whether that be from some added sparkle or shimmer, or just more pigment. 3 Little Words is a corally pink, once again highly wearable:
Hmm. I admit I never had a ton of No. 17 make up, but I do like the cheeky fun streak the old range had. I remember loving the disco shine lipsticks for example, and there were the odd gems in the glosses and blushers that I really liked.
From seeing this small selection I can see that 17 has grown up a lot, but this kind of feels like she’s ditched her fun youthful days at Uni to go and work in admin at an Estate Agents. I hope with future launches, they add a bit more fun because there these days there’s a lot of affordable fun ranges out there and it would be a shame if this became snore-tastic.
These cost £3.99 and you can buy them here.
