Have to be honest, if I was stopping by a Laura Mercier counter, I wouldn’t stop to look at the lip glosses – I would stop to look at her base products she is so famous for. But I do have one the Lip Glaze’s here to review today! I have a mini set from lip glosses and I find them very none-offensive, wearable, and generally pigmented. I can totally see how someone can have a favourite shade from this collection and wear it every day for work, if that makes sense.
I have the shade Desire, a deep burgundy shimmer and it is one of the newer shades:
Laura Mercier Lip Glace’s are high shine and pigmented with relatively long lasting results. I find it to be quite a wet gloss but still thin at the same time…as in, if you apply too much it will look ‘drippy’, but if you don’t apply enough, you don’t get the full cover effect.
I feel grown up using this gloss – god knows I love some glitter and shimmer in my glosses. It’s smooth and lovely to spread across the lips, although I felt it settled a little into my lines – perhaps because this colour is so pigmented and dark.
Desire is interesting because it has glittery particles (quite visible gold bits!) in it which you don’t tend to find in these deep berry type shades. It makes it a little less serious to wear. Perhaps it isn’t as obvious in my swatch but as you spread the colour you can really see the glitter.
On my lips – I liked it actually, more than on my hand swatch as it was more of a blackberry colour, nice for the odd Autumn occasion. I wouldn’t wear it every day because I don’t really do vampy shades all the time.
The colours are on sale here at £19.50 each (House of Fraser). I think I would buy a gift set again at Xmas to try more shades, I wouldn’t necessarily buy one big tube of a gloss unless I absolutely loved it.
