A few weeks ago I went to Westfields in London – not somewhere I got regularly, so was extremely excited to see the KIKO store there (so far I don’t think KIKO is sold in the North of England in any stores).
But here’s the thing. Do I need more make up? Obviously not. I have been trying to purchase items that either interest me in some way (as in is something I don’t already have) or good quality long lasting products that I won’t just discard after a swatch. So I set myself a little budget of £20 and bought whatever I fancied that would fit that.
Here is my haul!
I ended up with 7 products! Not bad, right!? That’s because KIKO do discounts in stores on random things which is amazing! Half price goodies galore. Lots of seasonal sales too. One thing I will say is that some of the stands are a real mess, it took me forever to find an eye crayon that wasn’t out of stock.
Here is what I got:
Velvet Touch Creamy Stick Blush 01 Golden Sand – a peach pink beige blush with flecks of gold. It’s a natural looking blusher but I like the flecks of gold even though they are a bit bling! This applies like NARS Multiples but haven’t broken me out in zits like the Multiple does. Blends nicely, dries in to a slightly powdery finish. Usually £7.90.
Unlimited Stylo Lipstick in 02 Pearly Vintage Rose & 05 Orange – once again I couldn’t quite find anything in stock here and the display was messy so I quickly grabbed two colours.
The rose is gorgeous – a rich pink rose that I find a real pleasure to wear and the orange is NEON – I actually wanted this because I have been obsessed with neon colours worn in K-Dramas.
So I am kind of in love with this lipstick – I am kicking myself that I didn’t grab a few more shades (and I am super fussy about my lipsticks). The formula smells of vanilla, and when you spread it on it is pigmented and creamy – it feels like a typical creamy lipstick then POOF it dries in to a matte finish. Once matte it is surprisingly not drying – I am not going to say hydrating because really, when are mattes truly moisturising! But it doesn’t dry the hell out of my lips so that is a plus for me and it is long lasting too. It is usually £7.90- I wish I picked up a red and cocoa shade.
I got the Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadows in 31 Iris Blue and 34 Pearly Rose Quartz. I have used these before and I think they are fine.
Both of these shades were what was left! I have no objection or purple and pink! The Iris is a pretty cornflower shade and the pink is a very pearlised off white pink. They swatch nicely but they apply a little patchily to the eyelid especially the pink. If you want to build the colour up then I find it sets, then crumbles. I think it works best in thin layers but once set, it is pretty long lasting.
Finally the lipliners – because these were dirt cheap, about £1.50 each. I think the shades were 701 Pearly Pink and 702 Coral.
The lip liners are ok for the price and good if you want a cheap liner for the odd wear. I however found them quite dry and the pearl pink is not very pigmented (it’s actually a horrid colour – light pearl frosty pink ugh! But I guess you need to try everything once!). Coral reminds me of MAC Fruit Salad (I think that is the name of the orange lip liner) but the texture is not as good.
I apologise for the crazy colour clashes below – I am matching them because I wanted to demo all the products. The eye colour is very bright and really I would do a sheer nude pink lip with it normally, NOT ORANGE!!!!!
The lip products are different in each picture:
In total because everything I bought was on offer, I spent just under £20! Not bad eh!
Kiko will be opening a store in Manchester soon! So that will be super fun because their stuff is quite affordable but there is a lot of choice in there. Until then there is the online store and stores in London.
