Part of Jill Stuarts Autumn release, Romantic Smoke, were 5 new lipstick colours, two of which I purchased!
I do like a luxurious lipstick and Jill Stuart’s are definitely that (in price, anyway!). The packaging is this super cute! I got two of the shades, Whisper Back which is a nude pink and 21 which is called Lipstick Stain, a glossy red.
Both of these lipsticks feel quite substantial in the had – they’re cased in chunky plastic (it is only plastic) but it does look very pretty indeed.
I chose Lipstick Stain because I wanted a pigmented glossy red and Whisper Back because if all else fails, nudes always work on me (well..not deathly nudes). The cap is clear plastic so you can see which lippie you are using:
There’s no discernible glitter or shimmer in these lipsticks as you can see below:
I was very disappointed when I swatted these colours. The red in particular, I thought would be as rich as the imagery from the Romantic Smoke collection but it’s far sheerer and generic. The nude also, for me lacked pigment and seemed rather dull.
HOWEVER! Once these lipsticks are on the lips I think they are rather lovely. They have that typical watery shine that Japanese lipsticks have, but they are nice and glossy, hydrating and more pigmented then when swatted on the hand. However they are not that long lasting and they don’t leave much of a stain. Still…that hour long glossy shine is so pretty!
My lips were very very dry when I did these swatches so I think it’s testament to these lipsticks that they look quite healthy in these photos?!
I bought these from eBay for £24 each, at that price I have no urge to rush out and buy more unless I see some new, interesting colours!
What do you think of this lipstick?
