So years ago I reviewed Imju Fiberwig mascara and hated it, despite it being a cult product in Japan. The fibers seriously irritated my eyes…spiky spiky.
Then recently I went a bit nuts and bought a whole load of new mascaras to try – one of them was the Imju Fiberwig Lash Knockout and the other was this an updated version of the Fiberwig.
And that, is what we are looking at today!
Imju Fiberwig calls itself ‘Paint On False Lashes’ and I guess it is – it’s an extremely fiber (or fibre!) rich formula which you can build on and create long long long lashes.
Technically, Fiberwig is everything you would want in a mascara…or everything an Asian girl would want for her short, straight lashes. It has curl, length, water resistant-ness and is easy to remove.
Engineered to create the perfect lashes with twice the amount of micro-fine interconnecting fibers, the instant drying formula creates a long lasting film coat around your natural lashes. Fiberwig imparts a perfect, smudge-proof maximum lash extension effect with a water-resistant formula that’s easy to remove with warm water, without risking damaging or losing your natural lashes.
Fiberwig, thankfully, do update their formula – when I was looking for ones to buy (yes yes, you know it, on eBay) they were sold as 2010 versions – apparently they update their formula occasionally. You have to love anything that updates apart from Microsoft Windows.
On to the brush:Old brush was straight.
New one, curly!
Tell me you can see the fibers, right?! Just looking at them makes my eyes weepy.
They also say that this mascara is:
A jet-black fiber film coats the surface of each lash with long-lasting, clump-free, lash lengthening color that’s resistant to tears, sweat, and oil.
I would say:
- Yes it is indeed very black
- It does last a long time and doesn’t flake unlike other very fibery mascaras
- It isn’t entirely clump free, but I need to work on my application of this – it does tend to make my lashes stick together
- It lengthens – if you leave it and reapply it works quite well
- It’s water resistant but comes off with warm water. Therefore…if your eyes water a lot this does eventually run a bit under the eyes. I wouldn’t trust it for swimming etc.
My lashes are in remission from my lash extensions. Yeah…don’t believe it when they say they don’t come with a price (read: sparse, weaker natural lashes)
One coat – mmmm it’s adding length but because the formula is a bit ‘sticky’ my lashes are clumping together. I couldn’t find my lash comb so it stayed like this…
From front view, yes it retains some curl but it’s hardly flattering. Also the ones in the middle are starting to droop. Hmmm. On the plus side my eyes were not at all irritated by this new formula, but it’s not quite the magic I wanted.
This mascara is good for one thing – it works really well with my Heated Panasonic Lash Curler – trust me, any ordinary mascara, waterproof or not will melt under the searing heat of this baby. Fiberwig does not melt, so this mascara will have it’s uses.
Improvement is better than perfection….apart from when you are talking about a £10 mascara.
