HD Ready? Revlon PhotoReady Foundation Review

I’m afraid I let myself be swept away with the masses when it came to buying this foundation. The idea of a HD ready foundation for less than £15 was pretty appealing even though I already have more foundations than anyone would ever need.

So here it is – I got this in Golden Beige (I am a MAC NC35):

At Boots there were 2 more shades up from Golden Beige, which doesn’t leave that much choice for Asian and Dark skinned ladies. Even I found that Golden Beige was the slightest bit too light.

The Pump Applicator:

One pump is enough to use all over the face although my skin is so dry at the moment it just sucks the base right up.

The product is fairly liquid with a good medium coverage on the skin. It has a slightly oily feel to it – its for me now since my skin is dry but I’m not so sure how it would settle on oily skin.

This foundation doesn’t smell funky, and it does blend quite nicely into the skin.

It certainly made me look more alive than Make Up Forever’s foundation..

Before (no make up):

Bleh. Add the base – you can see what the foundation looks like on my skin for a colour match anyway:

After – excuse the fact I’ve managed to get foundation on my lashes! The result is quite even, quite soft – however it is quite dewy and almost slightly oily looking.

Is this good for photography? Hell no! A greasy lardy face doesn’t really look great in pictures especially not all over.

Close Up – its that GLOW thing again:

Verdict:

I wouldn’t call this a PhotoReady foundation – I don’t see any difference between this and my other favourite foundations on camera. If anything its too oily and shimmery to look good on camera.

But as a general all purpose base, its pretty nice. There’s no smell, it blends quickly, it gives you a radiant finish.

I wouldn’t personally rush out and buy this again although I’ll quite happily use it up.

The foundation is on sale here for £12.99.

  1. was it the foundation worn on mother’s day which not get the thumbs up by mommy candy?

  2. Don’t hate me, but I think your skin looks better in the before. Not really feeling the finish of that foundation at all.

Your skin is looking really good though; what skincare are you using?

  3. I didn’t like it, felt so heavy on my skin somehow.

  4. hello! this is sort of an off-topic question but .. are you an NC35 in the LIQUID or in the POWDER foundation? i am an NC35 myself in the powder , and the MUA matched me with a RevlonPhotoready in 004Nude , i couldn’t say that its a bad match because my face is lighter than my neck. >_< your thoughts?

  5. I bought this the other day and found it way too shimmery for everyday use, which is what the girl at the revlon counter told me it was good for. Should always remember the name of products. lol

  6. ya i got this cover up and it doesnt cover any of my blemishes and i just don’t like how it makes my face look. you can tell you’re wearing it.. i just want a cover up that makes your skin look natural that will actually cover everything 100%.
