I am interested in contouring and shading – think it makes a big difference to the face if done well and subtly.
Was anyone else an 80s child like me and remembers how the Hong Kong or Asian actresses in general used to contour their noses?
Extreme. It was extreme.
Anyway I bought this Make Up For Ever sculpting kit to have a play with. There are 4 variations so I got no. 2 which is described as medium neutral brown and cream. Both powders are matte:
I’d be lying is I said that I don’t already have tons of highlighting and contouring shades in my collection but I liked the idea of having both colours in one place.
I prefer having a matte powder to contour – I just think it looks more natural but you can use products with some shimmer in them too.
The while powder is a soft cream…its a good shade for my medium toned skin. The brown, although described as neutral I think is a little bit red – I’d prefer a truly cool toned brown like Illamasqua’s Mischief Blusher.
So for me, the brown is ever so slightly off. I don’t like any red/orange in my browns. The texture of the powder I can’t fault – its very soft and creamy, easy to use and quite easy to blend away.
Used a bit of both of the colours:
The first ingredient is Talc. Hmmmmmm. Surely the powder is too expensive for that?
Its a nice product and if you don’t have any contouring products/shades its a good place to start BUT its totally unnecessary. You would be better off just looking for a white/cream eyeshadow/blusher/highlighter that suits you and looking round for a contour shade that suits you perfectly.
The contour shade is the tricky one and I don’t think the one in this palette fits all.
