God knows I am addicted to doing crazy things to my hair (balayage, dye over, remove, dye over, remove, dye over, highlights etc. etc.) and I know deep down I should leave it alone but it’s like an addiction. I have actually done quite well for the last few months and let my hair grow but the damage has been done. So I do like a hair treatment to restore a bit of moisture and shine (although I usually just use coconut oil).
Hairapeutix is a pre-shampoo treatment made from natural oils for dry hair and extensions.
The box there is the mini (£5.99) and contains 2 sachets which is a weekly treatment according to the website.
To use, you have to warm the sachet in your hands to liquefy the contents (although I didn’t find that mine was solid at all), apply to the mid lengths and ends, then leave on for at least 30 minutes but overnight is great.
I decided to leave mine on over night for the maximum effect.
So the sachets are very generous, a little too much so. My hair is not super long but it is quite thick and plentiful – there was more than enough oil and I think it could even be split in to 2 separate sachets to minimise waste. Once the sachet is ripped open it’s fiddly to keep since the oil wants to spill out so I just used the whole thing up but it was kinda a bit too much.
It smells great though and has a thick oily rich texture which sits on the hair (towel down on the pillow!) because it is quite heavy.
So the following day I shampooed it out (and you NEED to, it’s oily) and my hair looked much smoother and sleek. However it still felt ‘oily’ – only after the second shampoo which I did two days later did my hair feel ‘normal’ again. But it was much less frizzy and shiny overall. I will definitely use the second sachet at the end of the week since there’s a decent improvement to my hair (more than with the general intensive conditioners I use).
Morning after – rough dry:
