I first encountered Essence cosmetics when I went on holiday to Budapest a few years ago and ended up buying a ton of the extremely affordable range to use. Now a good three years later, the brand has come to the UK and is finally accessible (I hope) to many more people out there!
I don’t really blog about events, but there was an extremely nice do oooop North where we had the chance to learn more about the brand and also take home a selection of cosmetics to try (I will do reviews randomly as I go through the selection of products I chose!).
A few key things stand out for me in regards to Essence (a German brand, if you are interested!).
Firstly, the range is VAST. Generally speaking there will be 2 metre length stands in selected Wilkinsons stores, but also two pop up stands that are 3 metres (actually 6 because you got both sides!) in Westfields, London and the Arndale Centre, Manchester for the foreseeable future which has an even bigger selection!
The palettes below for example, are exclusive to the pop up stands:
The new collections such as this Brasil one is also exclusive to the Pop Up stands:
A quick note on the returns policy on the pop up stand – unused products can be returned within 48 hours with a receipt! So that’s good to know because you know how funny people can be with you wanting to return make up these days.
Essence also strives to be an innovative brand and every year, they aim to change up 40% of their collection obviously depending on what sells, and what needs to be revamped. They already have quite up to date products that compete with other things on the market, such as the nail polish removing pot (like Bourjois, but cheaper), Gel Nails at home (once again cheaper than most on the market as the lamp is £19.99) and so on.
For me what stood out is the Nail range (so many colours and nail care items to choose from). I was blinder to the base products and even eye colours – instead I was drawn to the shimmery glosses. I also missed out on the mascaras and eyeliners, just because I didn’t crouch down that low on the stand
I got my nails done too whilst I was there, with some minty green and nail art. The nails lasted for 3 days without chipping, then 6 days in total before it had to be removed, so not bad at all.
Essence is such a fun range, definitely check out a stand if your local Wilkinson’s has a counter, or if you’re lucky, either of the two pop up stands! (The Manchester Arndale one is located outside Druckers Patisserie).
