Drink More Water! Bobble Filtered Water Bottle with a built in filter

I saw this cool little gadget, the Bobble Filtered Water Bottle a few weeks ago in the Stylist Magazine, and decided to hunt one down.

I passionately hate drinking water but I know it really helps – my skin looks much better when I make an effort to drink a litre a day.

The invention is a really cool idea. The idea is that you can fill up your bottle with normal tap water and the filter will – well, filter it, so it’s as good as (probably better!) than bottled water. It’s better for the environment, it saves money…although you do need to change the filter every 2 months or after every 140 litres of water (they cost £6.95).

Oh and it comes in different colours so you can choose a different one each time.

There’s basic care instructions…Wash the bottle frequently, clean the carbon filter in really hot eater etc. It’s all quite low maintenence!

I have to say, I haven’t used it much though – at work I have a water cooler near me so I use that instead. At home I have a big Britta jug so I don’t need the filter bottle. When DO I need a build in filter? Oh I know, if I go camping…?!

One fault I noticed – the bottle scuffs easily. I have’t used it yet and it’s got three scuff marks already, just from having it a big with a few other things.

I bought this at Scarlet & Jones for £9.95 (free shipping – Harvey Nichols also sell it but they charge for shipping.)

  1. I saw this a while ago and was intrigued, but at the time I could only find a US stockist and couldn’t be bothered with that. I like the idea, but the scuffing problem you mentioned is an issue.

I haven’t seen it in person, but theoretically, I’m guessing that it’s just a standard screw top, so you could put the filter on any old water bottle you have lying around? Correct me if I’m wrong.

  2. I have one of these too but my dad reminded me.. If I took the Bobble with me to another country, the water would be much different than the water here and the Bobble might fail me.
I rarely drink tap water because I have a water cooler at home and work. Bah, what a waste of $7!
