Coffee, sweet elixir of life. I could drink it all day every day. Someone told me recently that drinking a cup of coffee at 10pm was madness, but that’s me. I just adore the taste.
Now, Coffee is not just for drinking! I’ve been seeing lots of coffee scrubs around so was excited to try out Scrub Love:
Scrub Love is made from organic roasted coffee that has been ground down to a slightly lumpier than powder texture, and it also contains pink rock sale, sweet almond oil, vitamin E, sweet orange oil and organic orange peel. Primarily though, it’s coffee.
The texture of this powder is as I mentioned above, not a super fine powder, but a slightly lumpy one. I could see salt particles but nothing else. There is definitely an oiliness to it which will be the added oils, but it’s a small amount – I guess this is what makes it a dry scrub. As you rub it in, the oils are released. If you prefer a softer scrub you can always add a touch more of your own sweet almond oil or olive oil (to your hand, not to the pack – don’t ruin it!).
The packaging is a foil pack which I quite like – it’s cute and there’s not too much waste. Practicality wise – well just pour out what you need before you step in the shower. I preferred using it on slightly wet skin otherwise it’s a bit too dry alone. Rub for 5 minutes (more like 1.5 minutes for me) for soft smooth skin.
So a few thoughts:
– It smells gorgeous if you like coffee. It just smells like a freshly ground pouch of coffee, yum yum yum. This one smells strongly of orange too.
– My skin does feel super duper soft afterwards. I think it is relatively abrasive though so be gentle, don’t be fooled by it’s soft feeling texture!
– Yes it makes a mess. I used it in the shower and the little bits get everywhere. Expect to spend a bit of time afterwards making sure the shower is clear of grains.
I like that the ingredients are organic.
I am so on board the coffee scrub train! (Someone suggested getting coffee grounds from a coffee shop and using that as a scrub instead – I am sure you can do this but I haven’t tried).
There are two other flavours, Coconut Affair and Mint Temptation from Scrub Love (good choices, nice and refreshing!). I’ll probably use this once a week and I think it’s pretty effective.
