When my hair is highlighted, I am happy. I am even happier when it is a lovely cool toned blonde rather than a brassy tone, with the red in my hair trying to bust through. I am always looking for quick and easy purple toned solutions to keep my hair cool looking – the thing is, it wasn’t always that easy to find toning products that can be used easily with minimal skill. I tried toning my hair once with purple wash in wash out dye and I ended up with purple hair so…easy is the key.
Charles Worthington’s Colour Revive Tinted Colour Mousses are tinted coloured foams that don’t need to be washed out and add a temporary colour boost. It also makes your hair more glossy and washes out after 2-3washes. It comes in 5 colours; Blonde, Violet, Light Brown, Dark Brown and Clear Gloss. I have Light Brown and Violet.
I am all for this because type of product because it is noncommittal….when I recently tried to find a wash in wash out product I had to buy a cheap little sachet dye (weird and pointless). Also, I am tired of adding layers and layers of permanent dye to my hair. This stuff is lightweight so doesn’t give the hair that straw like feel.
So to use this product –
Wash your hair – section, apply 1-2 pumps or as much as necessary – cover hair, comb through, wash your hands and dry your hair for the best shiny finish.
What I do is: Wash hair…hair starts to dry…oops need to put product in it….scrunch some mousse in the ends where it needs toning….air dry. Because I don’t have that much time to faff about.
Anyway – this stuff works well. I haven’t honestly used the light brown yet – I figured that would be a good mousse for when my hair feels dull, but I have used the violet toning mousse frequently and it really does take that edge off the brassiness with very little effort. I just apply to the ends and dry – natural or with a hairdryer and I can see the difference. It is not the same as applying some real toner or dye of course not – but for those in-betweens it is perfect. The combination of weekly purple shampoo and this is enough to control my brass and it means I don’t need to keep adding more and more layers of toner and dye to keep my hair looking decent. Win!
This costs £9.99 for 150ml. I use 2 pumps a time so this stuff will really last as my bottle still feels very heavy after 4 weeks of use. I will definitely purchase this when I run out. You can buy it at Boots.
