When it comes to lipsticks and lipgloss I am a sucker for a luxurious lip product.
And what better than a product by Chanel; their (fairly) new Rouge Allure Extrait De Gloss Pure Shine Intense Colour glosses come in a variety of shades, and looks similar to Rouge Allure Laque but in a longer tube.
I have three shades here, fairly natural ones to try, Insolence, Confidence and Insouciance.
CHANEL reveals the next generation of lipgloss – with colour so rich and shine so intense, it could only be inspired by the iconic lipstick, ROUGE ALLURE. Bold colour combines with the smoothest, silkiest gel texture for luxurious wear and deeply dramatic effect. Lips feel comfortable – never sticky or tacky – and look luminous, full and sensuous for hours.
Chanel like Dior and YSL do the nicest packaging. It’s heavyweight. I don’t like make up in flimsy packaging, especially if it’s expensive – it has to be in a nice, solid case.
No worries here, Extrait De Gloss comes in a heavy duty long black container:
I wasn’t sure what to expect. I absolutely love LÈVRES SCINTILLANTES glosses – so shimmery and stunning and then I discovered the Aqualumiere high shine glosses too – where does the Extrait De Gloss fit in?
The applicator I love. It’s a spongy one but firm, with an point – nice for cupid bows, nice to get a even application. Do you ever apply a gloss and swirl it about on your lips because you can’t seem to get rid of the lines?
I do. This applicator stops that!
Here are the three highly wearable pretty shades; 57 Insolence, a candy pink which looks far brighter swatched than it is on, 55 Confidence, a sheer sparkly baby pink and 51 Insouciance a nude beige.
Whilst these looked quite pigmented on my hand they sheered out a lot on my lips. My lips are naturally quite pink so perhaps these shades would show up more on other people – on me they were quite sheer.
I’d consider using a lip concealer underneath to bring out the colour.
Remember how bright Insolence was on my hand? Applied it’s more of a soft pink glow:
It hydrates beautifully and fills in lines.
Confidence looks very similar when applied – more of a sheen, more of a pearl but still a soft pink. I don’t think you would nee both of these pinks:
Insouciance is a nude beige -there’s just the right amount of sheerness and pigment, the result is just really healthy, hydrated looking lips.
Looking at the original Chanel brief this lip gloss is:
– Fairly pigmented (I think I got 3 natural ones to be fair the reds and plums are richer)
– Very shiny
– A nice gel texture
– Fills in lines
– Not sticky
– Wears very well and no crustiness
– It’s expensive at £22
– I don’t think the shades I personally tried are that unique. I would definitely go in store and pick a colour you love rather just just like, since it’s a pricy purchase!
This gloss has the typical Chanel high quality, and I will get a lot of wear out of these neutral, day to day colours. I still love the Aqualumiere range a lot for shiny gloss and I love Levres Scintillantes for sparkly shades – however, I’ll go for the Extrait if I want really comfortable long gloss wear but would definitely pick more of a oomph colour.
