Mii is a very understated and elegant cosmetics brand I have tried a few times before an have always found the products to be of good quality; the kind of make up I would buy for my aunt or mum because they like their cosmetics to be wearable and easy to use. Mii have quite an extensive brow range (known as Brow by Mii) and I have a few of the products here to test;
There was a time when I didn’t do my brows because I have a naturally ok shape and enough hair but then I realised a polish and quite fill really made my entire look more polished (although its still not something I do every single day). If you are on the market for some new brow product or you are a brow fanatic then there’s something here for you….
Firstly the Finishing Brow Gel (£11.95) is a plastic brush rather than the traditional type (good I think – easier to wipe clean I found with regular mascara type brushes my brow hair got caught in it or even worse, the gel would get discoloured over time because of the brush going back in unclean – ew). As you twist the bottom of brush, the fresh gel comes out of the head making it very hygenic to use.
The brush is really good for cleaning up the brows from any bits of foundation in there and for combing them in to a neat shape.
The Impeccably Medium Precision Brow Detailer (£12.50) comes in fair, medium and dark – I have medium which is a medium warm brown.
This pencil is somewhere between a hard textured brow pencil and a super waxy one – it’s a good texture as it doesn’t come off to densely (is that a word?!) avoiding the dreaded sharpie brow. It has a squarish head which is quite good for the edges, although I guess this shape could change if you hold you brush at a weird angle!
It is retractable too which is handy and one for the carry around make up bag. It’s superior to the MAC retractable brow pencil I have been trying to use up which has barely any colour!
The Conceal and Contour Duo comes in two shades, cream and peach (£11.50) – I chose peach for my warmer skintone. I have tried similar products to this before from Anastasia brow and Benefit – this is a really useful crayon to have depending on how much time you have to do your make up. Could I use this every day – no – only because I have a small amount of time to do my daily make up with 2 small kids but if I did have more time I would totally do this as it opens up the eye area.
The creamy matte concealer can be used above the brow and under it to clean the lines up, and the gorgeous shimmery gold side can be used as a highlighter under the brow arch or indeed anywhere else on the face. I liked how creamy they were especially the concealer side.
Finally the Statement Brow Kit (£16.95) also comes in fair, medium and dark and is one for the brow aficionados!
This comes with a brow powder and a set of stencils. I used to poo poo the idea of brow stencils until a make up artist used one and it was so cool!
As you can see there are 5 stencils and depending on your natural shape you can have a play and change your look. Also good for tweezing if you are nervous about it.
The brow powder I have is medium, a neutral brown and it is supposed to be waterproof (I haven’t tested it in water but it seems to last well for a brow powder!). It seems to stick to the hair as you dab it on which is a good thing – one of my favourite ways to do my brows is to apply the gel THEN the powder as it gives a soft but defined look that lasts all day.
I used a mixture of products here – left brow has been made up, right brow left alone:
