Beauty Bargain Finds; Becca at Fragrance Direct! Fine Pressed Powder, Compact Concealer, Stick Foundation and Luminous Skin Foundation

I was alerted to hoards of amazing Becca make up on Fragrance Direct (a discount beauty site) by Lipglossiping - I am a HUGE Becca fan although I do find the products are obviously quite pricey.  However, I used to buy the odd thing from Zuneta when there were sales going on.

I have wanted to try all their base products together for ages – especially the Luminous Skin Colour (a sheer tinted foundation) which retails at £32 normally, so I rushed over to buy 4 base products.  In total I spent just over £20 which is great value.

Choosing colours on Becca is very tricky – they have a huge amount of shades and it’s not that easy picking the right one.  Different charts and different websites will give you different swatches so I do recommend checking the official Becca site yourself to check.

Using a chart only, I ended up choosing the following colours for my NC30-35 skin tone.

Luminous Skin Colour in TAN (other choice would’ve been BAMBOO).

Stick Foundation in HONEYCOMB. I used to have this in BUTTERSCOTCH which is too yellow and too pale.

Dual Concealer in HONEYCOMB which is fine.

Pressed Powder in WHEAT.

I think that the Luminous Skin Colour, Concealer and Powder you can wing it somewhat – I think a shade up or down will still be ok as they are quite blend able.

Luminous Skin in Tan is a nice choice for me – nice and neutral and this foundation is so interesting – liquid and watery-sheer but the skin glows after applying it. A lovely product.

The Stick Foundation in Tan is also a great match for me but like the concealer, both of these products are dense and opaque and not very creamy. The concealer reminds me Laura Mercier’s secret camouflage in that it needs help – warming up – in order to work well.  In truth, there are other highly opaque concealers that are easier to work with.

The stick foundation (and I love stick foundation) is also quite dry and needs warming otherwise it just tugs.  Having said that other stick foundations I have (Shu Uemura Nobara, Bobbi Brown) are super creamy and soft and they do lack longevity.  Becca’s being dryer is better for oily bits even if it is harder to work with.

Wheat pressed powder is a good pressed powder, nice and fine although Wheat (recommended on the chart) is a pale yellow which I wasn’t sure about. It does disappear on the skin so it’s fine – no complaints about this powder really.

None of the products I got appear to have gone off, have a funny smell or have separated.

This is a snippet of my face after using the base products:

Verdict:

Prices are from £2.99 – £5.99 so very reasonable compared to RRP (makes you think really!).  So if you have always wanted to try Becca, now is the time (it isn’t the full range but there’s a great selection of base items, lipstick, eyeshadow and pencils which I paid full price for! Sob).

I 100% recommend the Luminous Skin Colour and the concealer is pretty decent if you can match up. The face powder for this price is a good buy and the stick foundation whilst a good price probably takes a bit more work than it’s worth.
