I love trying out new base products and definitely have my favourites; at the moment in my day to day life I tend to wear BB creams or tinted moisturisers because its easier to just rub some products in my face than sit there working with a brush and / or sponge.
I do find that many BB, CC, EE creams are just tinted moisturisers in disguise and many tinted moisturisers are just foundation in disguise! It’s quite confusing since companies just call their products whatever they want!
bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream (£26) is quite a mouthful, and it’s the newest base from the brand:
I have a few bareMinerals concealers which are excellent but I’ve never tried their mineral make up as I have an aversion to powdery bases. This new complexion rescue has a few key selling points –
It is supposed to be Hydrating, Paraben Free, and offer skin improving properties as well as offering sheer to medium coverage. It’s like a super charged tinted moisturiser!
As always with BE you get an excellent selection of shades for fair to dark skin- I chose Ginger for my NC30-35 skin and at first I felt it was a tad pale but it settles in nicely and looks very natural on so I do think this is the best shade for me.
The texture is almost like a mousse – it definitely has a lightness to touch and spreads on the skin well.
Coverage is sheer – it evens things out but doesn’t cover blemishes or very red parts of my face – this requires extra concealer. However I don’t mind that as it makes the face overall look less mask like, which is what you want in a natural finish product.
I have dry skin to this base is really really nice to wear – my skin DOES feel more hydrated with a nice glow that isn’t sweaty (for example I find Estee Lauder’s EE cream leaves a sweaty glow). The BE base leaves a lovely glow which is just right on my skin type.
Here is a not so good example of how I am wearing the base – it is really natural to wear.
I currently have this product in my everyday make up bag – it’s hard to find a tinted moisturiser that doesn’t look greasy or a BB cream that matches my skintone but this product does both. It offers the right amount of glow and coverage to we worn every day with an effortless application too.
Recommend for anyone who wants a high performance natural base.
