Last week me and my little family headed down to London for a little city break. Whilst I was there I had an hour or two of ‘mum’ time by popping into the Aveda Institute, a huge, sleek one stop beauty shop with a hairdressers, spa, shop, cafe, nail bar and more!
Just a 5 minute walk from my hotel, I turned up to experience the Invati Scalp Treatment and a Cut and Blow Dry. (Read my review of Invati here). Invati is a thickening hair range, which I have found useful these past few weeks – 3 months after the birth of Baby Candy, I have been experiencing the dreaded post-natal hair loss.
Although the salon is HUGE, it wasn’t at all intimidating. The hairdressing area is downstairs, and the salon was pretty busy, a testament perhaps to how popular it is. The area has a earthy, wood feel. My hairdresser Sally took charge of my hair which to be fair, didn’t need much other than a freshening up – I don’t currently have much time for much styling at all!
But first things first, there was the Invati Scalp Detox Treatment (£60/60 Minutes).
A new signature in-salon treatment that utilises the power of Invati to help detoxify and refresh the scalp – bespoke massage techniques, combined with Wintergreen-derived salicylic acid gently exfoliate the scalp and remove build-up that can affect the health of the scalp.
The treatment takes place in your set, and the first thing Sally did was use a scalp gel product (sadly a professional only product!) and dotted it over my scalp sparingly. She then asked me to take a deep breath to smell the scent (nice) and began a massage which was veryyyy comfortable. It ended with some massage around my neck and tapping on the shoulders.
After this, I went to the hair wash area which was surprisingly quiet as in, no inane chattering (good) and had another massage on the hair and a conditioning treatment.
Then we went back to the seat and had a cut and blow dry (using one product only, Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair). And we were done!
I found everything very swift and trouble free, if that makes sense…for people who hate hair dressers the Aveda experience is very zen.
Results – excuse the fact I look tired, I am indeed so very very tired:
Sally put a slight wave into my hair which I really liked – why do hairdressers make it look so easy!
Look at the shine in that!!! Sally used the Invati range and one styling product only. My scalp felt immediately ok after, but a few hours after it felt amazing – really fresh and clean, flake free and healthy.
Shine! Shine! Love it. My hair had so much bounce when I was crossing the road I felt like a bouncy ball.
It’s a shame I’m not London based but I would definitely go back when visiting, the salon is really lovely and were the treatments.
