5 Gentle Cleansers for Sensitive Skin

I don’t know about you, but with age my skin is getting more delicate and sensitive. I have a lot, a lot of skincare and I know, almost right away if something is not right for me – my skin gets hot, itchy, and I get small rashes.

My skin is like me – it knows what it likes, and it likes what it knows.

With that in mind I have picked out 5 cleansers I have used and adore – for sensitive skins, that won’t leave you feeling dry either. Let the cleansing commence!

No. 1 Jurlique Purifying Cleansing Lotion

Jurlique make some really nice skincare and this lotion is a nice one for oily skins. Some people with oily skins find that cream cleansers are too much.

They say:

A purifying cleansing lotion, rich in the living energy of calendula, rosemary and witch hazel to gently lift away surface impurities and rebalance excess oil. Leaves the skin clean and refreshed. Ideal for rebalancing oiliness.

This is nice for sensitive ladies who also have oily problems – Jurlique make cleansers for all skin types too.

No. 2 Cetaphil

Cetaphil is big in the US but it is in the UK now so you have no excuse!

This ultra bland lotion cleanser (also comes in a soap form) is so simple but it cleanses effectively, is cheap and is good even for really delicate skins.

Its non comedogenic and fragrance free too.

They say:

Cetaphil Cleanser and Moisturisers are dermatologist-recommended products particularly suitable for dry or sensitive skin.
Cetaphil product range is a perfect partner to skin treatment for acne, eczema, rosacea and psoriasis.

Cetaphil is designed to be used together with prescription dermatology treatments to help enhance their effects.

In the UK you can buy Cetaphil here.

No. 3 Psy-Derma Foaming Cleanser

This cleanser is gorgeously scented and is supposed to be part of a range by Dr Linda (from various TV shows) a way to destress the skin with cleansing and moisturizing products.

This is the only foaming cleanser I am recommending – it works a treat and didn’t cause any sensitivities on me.

It costs £13.50 too which is a bit of a bargain from here.

No. 4 Neals Yard Frankincense Facial Wash

I like the Frankincence range a LOT. The serum is absolutely amazing! I don’t like the smell but its still an amazing range.

This cleanser is called a facial wash but its actually a white cream, like a cream cleanser as opposed to a foaming wash.

No. 5 Honeymoon Cleanser

Honey is hot for the skin but I find it stings mine, so this cleanser made with very natural ingredients is a good alternative.

They say:

All natural cleanser for temperamental complexions: Cotswold honey gently exfoliates and nourishes, Jojoba oil moisturises and Sandalwood essential oil supplies deep seated remedial action on blocked pores and follicles. The perfect rinse off cleanser for combination or congested skin types, it can also be used as a soothing face pack.

The texture is quite heavy, but it isn’t hard to remove at all once you get some warm water on it.

You can buy this here.

Hope that list has been useful :D

I have really sensitive skin; it reacts poorly to almost everything (including hard water), it is dry in spots and oily in others, and it definitely sees a blemish from time to time. I’ve tried just about every product out there because I am easily swayed by advertisements for new organic facial products, but I always come back to the Made from Earth products, especially their Green Tea Toxin Cleanser. Unlike most products for ‘troubled’ skin, which contain harsh salicycle acid, the Made from Earth Green Tea Cleanser doesn’t make my break-outs worse at all. It’s oil free, so even after a long day my nose doesn’t feel slick, and it’s nice and light so it goes great under make-up.

If your skin is like mine, I recommend the pH Equilibtant Moisturizer (also from Made from Earth). That regiment keeps me clear, soft, and smelling fresh.
