Sorry guys, had quite a hectic weekend and a big week ahead so no posts today. Oh, apart from this one! But lots of nice things coming up. This is my cat CJ. She represents how I and the rest of the British working public are feeling on a Monday morning: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Just 10 more minutes…..
Archives for July 2011
It’s been a long, long time since I did a TV post but here it is! I can’t believe The Apprentice 2011 is over already – it’s been so much fun! At the time of writing, the finalists are: I’ve-run-a-business Susan, Jedi Jim, Rodent Tom and Helen (no nickname, because Helen is pretty much perfect). More on who I am supporting at the end of this post. Meanwhile, I need to address a very serious […]
Following from my earlier review of the Fairy Drops Cream Treatment Lash Base, here comes the Volume Burst Mascara in the waterproof formula (purple tube – the pink tube is the non waterproof film type). The packaging is just some cardboard but I like the busy design: The mascara comes with that special brush! Have you seen it?
It’s Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday… This week has been hectic and so I’ve been going through my archives to see what I have been meaning to talk about. Can you believe I forgot to talk about my experiences with the legend that is the Fairy Drops mascara!? Fairy Drops mascara comes in many formulas now – when I bought it, the packaging had been renewed to the Las Vegas Sweets design! I […]
Juju (ahem) a Japanese brand, produces affordable skincare – one of their most famous ranges is the Aquamoist range which is based around Hyaluronic acid to moisturize the skin. One of their newest releases is the Shiromomohada range which has 2 products – a peach whitening mist and lotion. I purchased the fine mist: I don’t know why I find the picture of a baby’s head in a peach a little bit cute-scary! I also don’t […]
Innisfree is a Korean brand with a huge range of products all with a ‘natural’ edge. I haven’t tried that much from the range purely because other brands have proved more appealing so far. I love multi use products so bought these two tints in Garden Balsam (Coral) and Azalea (Hot Pink). There is also a shade called Camelia which is more of a reddish rose: These have a gel type texture, thicker than Benefit’s […]
B&C Labs Clear Last Range focuses on primers and powders – I’ve tried a few of their products in the past with varied results – but generally it’s good. Their High Coverage powder is one of my favourites. The Clear Last Base Make Primer ‘Poreless Concealer’ SPF25 – I think this is more for spot application over areas of concern rather than an all over primer. This product has the bonus of SPF25 too! Clear […]
I really adore Becca cosmetics so was interested to see that they are launching new polishes. They’ve kept it simple with just 3 shades, and they are pretty neutral. Each polish has a self-levelling colour brush, and is fast drying. They’re free from formaldehyde and toluene. The summer shades are peachy/orange. Tangerine Dream is a bright sunset coral.
Kiss Me, famed for it’s excellent Heroine Make range, has a nail collection called ‘Mente’ – (click for reviews of it’s nail hardener!). I’ve noticed a trend amongst Japanese nail products for Gel Top Coats. The idea is getting a ‘gel nail finish’ but without the commitment of a gel nail. I’m all for that! I am not one for gel or fake nails (yes I know they are different things) so a low commitment […]
A couple of months ago, I had a dry patches on my face – they were red and angry and I did something silly and put a placenta face mask on top which made everything a million times worse. Eventually everything faded away apart from a rather large spot on my cheek, about an inch under my eye. A dry patch had turned into a spot and this was no ordinary spot – there was […]
Everyone has gone BB cream mad all of a sudden; as someone who has been trying and discarding many of them for a few years now I noticed a few other bloggers on Twitter looking for recommendations for Asian BB creams. I offered to send the lovely Liloo from Le Petit Jardin De Liloo a few sachets from various brands (I get a lot of free samples with my big overseas hauls!), so that she […]
The Michaeljohn hair salon located in Mayfair is very posh. So posh that the reception is littered with Hermes handbags (real ones) and eccentric hairdressers that look like Mr. Miyagi in flower power shirts dance around enthusiastically around a well coiffed head. Hence you have to understand my slight reservations as I walked into the poshness with my scraggly hair and muddied bag, a result of running through Central London for 2 days straight. Having […]
Anatomicals is one of those rare brands that are cheap, cheerful and quite innovative too. It looks more expensive then it is and is a nice stocking filler kind of brand. Aloe Aloe Aloe (cute name right?) has a dual use tube of hand cream and lip balm in one. And it contains aloe! Naturally! Although this is unisex, I imagine this is very appealing to the man in your life. Mr C for one […]
A couple of weeks ago they had a deal over at KGB deals for a Bellapierre make up set – these usually retail for £39.99 but they were on offer for just £16.99! Deal, right? These ‘Get The Look’ kits come in a few different colour variations, like a tropical set, a blues, a browns and so on. I ended up with ‘Wild Forest which is a green set: All the sets looked pretty appealing […]
“Her eye make up is terrible…it clashes with her blusher.” …..said Mr C at the TV, the other day. That’s right. How does a man with no interest in beauty and has never bought anything other than some basic moisturiser and a bar of soap suddenly become so judgemental about blue eyeshadow and orange blusher? BECAUSE HE’S WITH A MAKE UP ADDICT LIKE ME DAY IN DAY OUT, THAT’S WHY! Which made me think about […]
You know I have an obsession for all kinds of lip care product so I squealed when I saw these rather clever new Lip Roll On’s from The Body Shop! This is a lip oil – they aren’t calling it a lip balm or a lip gloss although admittedly it could be all three. They claim the product is non waxy and non sticky (but it will be, er, oily) and is available from July […]
Recently I’ve been in ‘boring eyeshadow mode’. What do I mean by boring eyeshadow mode? Well, for me, it’s browns, mattes, nudes. As much as I love me peacock type colours there’s a time and a place or everything and I’ve grown to appreciate the natural glowy look. I purchased two eyeshadow palettes from Kanebo’s Kate range a few months ago: These are what I’d call, ideal work place eyeshadow palettes.
Skinfood make up is hit and miss, trust me, and I’ve never though much of their lip products. When I spotted these super cute, fairly new-ish lipstick range called Vita Tok I just had to buy a few to try cos I like the name. Vita TOK. TOK. TOKS! TOCKS! You know like: Don’t think I have some weird animal fetish now, will you? But you gotta love cute tocks. Anyway, back to lipstick…. Skinfood […]
Everyone seems to be going mad for BB creams these days as bloggers find something new to try and Western brands are trying to make their own versions of the product. I’ve tested tons of different BB products, but no where near as many as some other BB cream lovers, nevertheless I am trying to find the perfect one for me. I guess Hada Labo’s version is quite close but the colour is off. I […]
If you ask me, the name Aubergine is far more apt for the purple vegetable than Eggplant. After all, it’s got nothing to do with eggs. Nevertheless, Skinfood’s product names tend to err more on the side of the transatlantic so for the purposes of this review, this is Skinfood’s Eggplant Eyebrow Gel Mascara & Fixer. See how the ends look like breasts eggplants? This 2 step eyebrow product is supposed to last for 24 […]
